About AMT
AMT sets the standard for quality and excitement in model kits. AMT models are known for their innovation and advanced engineering. Founded in 1948 in Michigan, AMT began making promotional scale model cars for the auto industry to show to customers while they waited for inventory to arrive. Although AMT stands for Aluminum Model Toys, AMT models are now largely plastic with occasional additional part and accessories in other materials. AMT Model Cars
AMT largely made models of Ford and non-Chevrolet GM vehicles. In the late 1950s, AMT began producing their 3-in-1 Customizing Kit Series which was very well received by hobbyists. AMT still makes their famous 3-in-1 kits and now produces plastic model kits of a wide variety of manufacturers, including Chevrolet. They also manufacture plastic model kits of boats, motorcycles, construction equipment, and classic and modern cars and trucks.
AMT Sci-Fi Models
AMT built models in the 1960s for the TV series Star Trek which led them to product plastic model kits based around the new show. AMT Star Trek kits are still available, and they continue to release new models based around the series. They have also licensed other science fiction and fantasy models like the 1966 Batmobile and the Speed Racer Mach 5.
